ABOUT ONE:

The International Magazine Connection to CahnersBoston Worldwide

Is dedicated to the talented people who worked for Cahners Publishing.

The commitment to excellence that these people gave thoughout the history of the company is beyond the scope of most for over 50 years.

Although some have left us, a lot of us are still here in many different fields.

The "ONE" family we call Cahners is still here even though we are not sitting next to each other.

I hope through "ONE " we can exchange memories through pictures, words and videos.

God Bless all of us.

Peter Coley

Peter was born in Kent, England, the only child of Frederick and Dorothy Coley.

He grew up in London during World War II, where his home and four schools he attended were bombed.

At 15, Peter joined the Civil Defense Bomb Disposal Squad and witnessed plenty of destruction.

Due to family hardship, he commenced work at age 16 as a messenger for World Press News. Six months later, he was promoted to office boy. From there he rose through the ranks in advertising, editorial and sales to become assistant managing director in the International Publishing Corp., now Reed Elseveir Corp.

In 1970, Peter was invited to join Hayden Publishing Co. in Lodi, N.J., as senior president of publishing operations. After six years, he joined Cahners Publishing Co. in Newton, from where he retired in 1993 as vice president of international publishing operations.

In 1992, Peter and his wife Moyra, retired and moved to Rockport in 1992,

where he got involved with many town committees and organizations, including the Historic District Commission, Council of Aging, Finance Committee, Economic Development and Rotary Club.

Unfortunately, Peter  left us  and his wife of 51 years on August 28, 2008 at the age of 80.
