TICKLE your NICHE
ONE's poet lauriat Bill Stevens wrote the poem below in honor of our 1st CahnersBoston ReUnion back in March.
I thought it would be nice for everyone to see it.
CONNECT-ONE's APPS
Way back when I joined Cahners,
I found a sense of family not because I saw alot of people with the same last name like, Bautz, Betts, Boggs, Carter, Dunbar, Flynn, Goldweitz, Holdreith. Mantia, McAuliffe, Murphy, O'Dell, Paul, Perry, Pettiglio, Poirier, Platt, Pratt, Prisble, Segel, Virtue, Walsh and White (I know I'm forgetting some)
As I walked around the first day, I felt like I was home. I went to the 7th floor and the first person I met coming out of the elevator was a distingushed looking man he put his hand out and introduced himself as Norman Cahners and asked me what my "niche" was . I honestly told him I didn't know what a "niche" was. He explained it as a focus and a commitment.
From that day forward, I found that most of the people I met had that commitment no matter what their job was. I honestly think alot of people thought of Norman as a father figure, a guiding light if you would.
All the families that made up CahnersBoston were the Best of the Best and the most talented compilation of talent and will never be matched.
I'm so glad to announce the winners of The LEGEND AWARDS.
These exCahns were picked by you because of many reasons so here they are:

Ned Johnson was a real gentleman. I was just a production nobody at Columbus Ave and during a winter storm he offered me a lift in his car to Marblehead (I commuted in those days by bus). He stopped to meet my Mom and Grandmother, shared a glass of Sherry and extolled my non-existent virtues. A great publisher and mentor.
I certainly got my share of Ned's poison pen memos -- but really was an education in marketing and publishing, lessons just as useful today as they were 30 years ago.. .

ABOUT ONE :
The International Connection to CahnersBoston Worldwide
Is a magazine dedicated to the talented people who worked for Cahners Publishing.
The commitment to excellence that these people gave thoughout the history of the company is beyond the scope of most for over 50 years.
Although some have left us, a lot of us are still here in many different fields.
The "ONE" family we call Cahners is still here even though we are not sitting next to each other.
I hope through "ONE " we can exchange memories through pictures, words and videos.
God Bless all of us.
